It's been a few weeks since I last posted on here but I've not been taking it easy. Well, not too easy anyway!
Work on the follow up single to ‘Scars’ is well under way and I'm hoping to have more news on that very soon, however, work has been put on hold over the last couple of weeks as I've been working on my first ever remix. I can't say much about it at this stage but it was completely new territory for me working on and interpreting someone else's music. It was also a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding experience and I'm hoping to do a few more remixes towards the end of the year.

There's also been a load of other great music that I've been immersing myself with lately - most notably the upcoming brand new sophomore album from Texas band Formerly Misinformed. For regular followers/readers you'll probably know that band leader Brandon is a good friend of mine and we've collaborated on a number of different things over the last couple of years.
Brandon has recently sent me the first mix of the new album ‘Phantom Ship' and I have to say it's sounding incredible. There's no official release date yet but I'll be doing a more in-depth feature/review of the album around it's release. For now, give them a listen on your preferred music listening platform and give them a follow on their socials!

As well as listening to brand new music I also recently went along to Tafwyl - the Welsh language music and arts festival in Cardiff. There were loads of great artists playing over the weekend but my main reason for going was to catch up with Mered Morris who, until Tafwyl, I had only ever spoken to via email.
To me Mered is a legend of Welsh language music and a very underrated guitarist. I've written a couple of reviews of some of Mered's albums and singles* and played his music on a radio show I used to present. Since then we've corresponded via email many times and he's been a huge supporter of my work, my music and especially my on-going learning of the Welsh language. Mered also contributed some vocals to the introduction to my song ‘Love For All’, which was a huge honour for me. (I've just added ‘Love For All’ to the website playlist too)!
At Tafwyl Mered was performing with another legend of Welsh language music - Bryn Fôn. For those of you who don't follow Welsh language music Bryn Fôn is an extremely well known singer and actor, and this was most certainly evident by the packed out tent where Bryn and Mered were performing (along with pianist Geraint Cynan). Seeing people of literally all ages cramming themselves into every available space and singing along with gusto (as only us Welsh can) to every song in the groups set was just amazing and very emotional.

Afterwards Mered and I met in person for the first time and he was just as lovely and kind in person as he is via email. We chatted for a while and are hoping to catch up a few more times this year too. As an added bonus he even introduced me to Bryn - two legends in one afternoon! Anhygoel!

And finally, ‘Scars’ has been continuing to get radio play across various stations and is still climbing up the Eclectic Music Lover Top 30 tracks of the week playlist chart - currently at #21 at time of writing. Thanks to everyone who has been listening/streaming/downloading ‘Scars’ (and my other music too)!

Well, that's it for now! As always, thanks for supporting my music and visiting the website. If you haven't already done so don't forget to keep up to date with all things SPS by signing up to the mailing list for the monthly newsletter (and your FREE download of the exclusive website only mix of ‘Scars’)!
Until next time - much love, Cx
*The first music of Mered's that I ever reviewed was his single ‘Dal Yma’ which means ‘Still Here’ in Welsh (hence the title of the blog). I called it the best single of 2022 and I still stand by that!
